Have you ever opened your email hoping an inquiry would come in, but instead, you get junk mail and bill reminders?
Do you ever start your day not knowing what to work on?
Ever find yourself doom-scrolling on Instagram, wondering why you're not shooting the jobs you'd be perfect for?
Like you, many photographers struggle to make it in the commercial world. Some will give up their weekends to shoot weddings, hoping to bridge the gap. Some work as assistants or digital techs for years on end… never making the leap to full-time Pro Photographer. Sadly, many photographers give up and get a "real job."
After 20+ years of being a commercial photographer, I've seen it happen to too many great photographers. People like you with loads of talent but lack the core business skills to have a well-paying, thriving career as a commercial photographer.
Through Photo Authentic, I intend to change that. I want to help you with 1-1 coaching, business courses about commercial photography, and an ever-growing resource library of guides, checklists, and action plans.
I have not always been successful. In fact, it took me 5 years to support myself with just photography assignments. It took me 10 years to make $100,000 in profit. Even with that level of success, I almost quit being a photographer after I moved cross country and lost all the momentum I had built up in Portland, OR.
In 2016, after 14 years of ups and downs, I faced getting a job as an in-house photographer at a Faith-Based University (I'm not the religious type) or doubling down on my business skills to fix my career.
I started listening to a lot of business podcasts. I started reading a ton of business books. And then, I got an online business coach.
Within one year, I was back on my feet. And in 2017, I hit $1 million in revenue.
Today, my priorities have changed. I have young kids, and my wife has an auto-immune disease. I no longer want to fly worldwide, taking pictures for large brands and magazines. I believe I can do more good by helping other photographers reach the level of success that I did.
I want to help you. Will you join me?
